The family off-site audit

We just ended our 4 night "leave the world behind" family audit.

In short:

The location matters. Maybe you don't have the time or resources to rent a villa for 4 nights but don't do this at the family home because there are far too many distractions.

Get an emotionless hotel room near your home. Nature helps.

The framework of your time doesn't matter. No need to pre plan every minute because your offsite audit needs to take on it's own framework and is largely determined by the energy of how the individuals in your family arrive.

Consolidating each individual's energy. The first 2 days we all had loose ends to take care of. We all arrived with some momentum from our own busy lives. So allow some moments for everyone to fully arrive and be patient with this.

For us on this trip, it took the first 2 days to really land together. This is the "together, alone" part of the few days.

Put in the big rocks first. Line up your agendas for the following year so we can put in time to meet that suits everyone's agendas. Life is busy but family first so do this at the start of the year when there is often more space in the agenda.

What to bring? Stationary. Post it notes, large pieces of paper and a journal book. Card or board games to play. Your best and current books that you are reading. Gym and sauna clothes.

How long should you take? We chose 4 nights and that worked well. Time to arrive, relax, reflect and plan then wind up on the last day to travel home.

Activity. I was exhausted at the end of the year. I had traveled too much. I slept a lot on day 1. We had a simply gym, yoga mats and some great 30 minute walks in nature. Moving our bodies together increased our coherence and mental clarity leading to better goal choices and personal discoveries.

I don't want to spoil your own process by filling in the contents of what we got into. Why? Because ours developed as the days unfolded and yours should too.

Let’s find out. I'll share my approach in a podcast and/or you tube format
